Their Behavioral Health team works directly with members to find treatment that best fits them.

Buckeye Health Services website lets users quickly find a provider and schedule an appointment, ask billing or claim status questions, and view providers by state and region. Buckeye also provides educational materials and workshops on various topics; its Behavioral Health team may refer clients if necessary.

Buckeye’s Medicare-Medicaid Plan is a joint venture between federal and state governments. It combines benefits from both programs into one package called MyCare Ohio and provides medical, behavioral health care, and long-term care services to people on Medicaid. MyCare Ohio has received commendable healthcare quality ratings while being one of America’s most extensive health plans.

Buckeye is a leader in disease state management and has joined forces with Walgreens Boots Alliance to offer innovative healthcare and wellness services to its members in northeast Ohio. As part of Walgreens Boots Alliance’s vision to be the go-to partner in reimagining local health and wellbeing for all, their collaboration included conducting the first asthma/COPD pilot in a pharmacy setting with payer partner partnership, later rolling it out to additional Buckeye Medicaid, commercial, and Medicare patients by 2022.

Employers provide healthcare coverage for employees through the workplace. Unfortunately, employees are forced to find healthcare coverage independently when they lose their jobs. They may qualify for COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act), which allows them to continue the plan at their own expense for 18-36 months at their own cost. Otherwise, they can use the Health Insurance Marketplace to compare programs and purchase coverage.

Care Coordination

With chronic conditions like diabetes, arthritis, or asthma, managing your health can seem impossible. Buckeye provides care coordination services to make managing your health more straightforward – connecting you to a team of healthcare providers such as nurses, health coaches, nutritionists, exercise physiologists, and pharmacists who act as your health coaches.

This company also provides telehealth visits, health education programs, dietary counseling, and home health assistance. They have numerous wellness centers throughout Ohio equipped with treadmills, weight machines, free weights, and free classes to encourage members to remain physically active and healthy.

Buckeye Health Services is dedicated to ensuring its members receive only the highest quality of care, which means utilizing multiple tools for evaluating service quality. For example, collecting feedback from patients and families helps assess how well services meet patient needs while at the same time cutting costs by improving service quality and reducing expenses.

Over the last decade, Buckeye has worked closely with over 300 hospitals and healthcare providers to implement several innovative healthcare models that have improved access to care for members and reduced hospital readmission rates. They have also created an electronic health record system to facilitate the exchange of patient data quickly and easily between their providers.

Buckeye offers various plans tailored to Medicare beneficiaries, such as Advantage Prescription Drug plans that provide affordable coverage beyond Original Medicare; dental, hearing, and vision benefits as supplemental coverage beyond Original Medicare; an expansive pharmacy network of over 60,000 locations; transportation services; as well as offering members no monthly premium and reduced co-pays on medications.

Buckeye Healthcare Innovations is a pioneer of healthcare innovation and one of the state’s fastest-growing managed care plans, covering more than 350,000 members through Medicaid, Medicare, MyCare Ohio, and Health Insurance Marketplace coverage. Their employees work every day to transform lives and create healthier communities.

Buckeye Health Plan also offers several community-based programs to keep members active and healthy, such as walking clubs, smoking cessation classes, cooking classes, and free bus passes or taxi vouchers. These activities help lower risks associated with heart disease, diabetes, and stroke while offering transportation options such as free bus passes or vouchers.

Buckeye Health Plan is Ohio’s leading Medicaid-managed healthcare provider and an entirely owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation – a multi-national healthcare company offering core Medicaid, Medicare, and specialty services. Buckeye Health Plan goes beyond its core business to contribute to improving the health of low-income individuals and their families by offering coordinated healthcare, social support, and housing solutions. Buckeye Health Plan is a member of the National Committee for Quality Assurance and has achieved Commendable Health Plan Accreditation status, contracting with the Ohio Department of Medicaid since 2004. Additionally, Buckeye Health Plan participates in the Medicare-Medicaid Advantage Partnership (MMP), offering waiver services such as home and community-based care, assisted living facility care, and long-term nursing facility care services.

Access to Care

Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) and Buckeye Health Plan have joined forces to launch a program that leverages pharmacists as disease management experts for vulnerable patients suffering chronic diseases such as asthma or COPD. It will begin operations at two federally qualified health centers in Cleveland and Cincinnati with other community partners, targeting targeted interventions, predictive modeling, and regular consultations by pharmacists.

This program seeks to expand access for Buckeye members to telehealth visits with doctors at no cost to themselves, including convenient phone or internet-based visits for medical consultation. These telehealth sessions offer timely care that’s safe and efficient and help ease hospital overcrowding while allowing members to interact with their physician in ways that fit with their preferences.

Buckeye Health Plan is a care coordination plan contracted with the Ohio Department of Medicaid to serve Medicaid and other government services program members. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation, it offers core Medicaid/ Medicare/specialty services.

Buckeye and Walgreens Pharmacy have joined forces as part of an initiative by Buckeye to partner with pharmacies to enhance member health and well-being. It builds upon a pilot program launched at select Walgreens locations to support Buckeye’s respiratory and chronic disease management programs; pharmacists in this initial phase provided asthmatic and COPD patients guidance in using their inhalers properly while coaching on adherence; they also worked alongside primary care providers to identify patients at risk of non-adherence and identify specific patient targets for support.

OPA’s partnership will ensure all members can access all available benefits, such as the Barrier Removal Fund. Under this program, participating providers have shared access to grant dollars for removing priority disability access barriers identified by Centers for Independent Living or other community partners. NCIL is the longest-standing national cross-disability grassroots organization run by and for people with disabilities; its membership consists of thousands of individuals and state Independent Living Councils and service providers.
