Amazon Smile in App

Amazon Smile allows shoppers to donate a percentage of purchases made at eligible items from eligible Amazon sellers to any charity of their choosing, subject to certain restrictions such as returns and subscription services not qualifying as donations.

Donations may seem small, but they can quickly add up for many charities. However, passive giving should not serve as a replacement for more significant gifts.

How it works

Amazon Smile is an online shopping portal that donates 0.5% of eligible item purchase prices to any charity of a customer’s choosing, such as Kendallville Public Library Foundation. Once selected in an Amazon account, all eligible purchases made automatically go towards that organization; Amazon keeps track of donations made and provides updates periodically – however, shoppers must remember to visit the right page every time they shop at Amazon!

For AmazonSmile to work in app, first download or upgrade to the latest version of Amazon Shopping App for both iOS and Android mobile phones. Open it up, find “AmazonSmile” under Settings, and follow the onboarding instructions.

Customers logging onto Amazon Smile must first log into their Amazon account to shop on its Smile website; then, they can select from over one million eligible charities – one being The Global Orphan Project. Remember that only individual purchase prices count toward donation amounts – any discounts or promotions do not count; returns and subscription renewals do not qualify.

Nonprofits must actively market the AmazonSmile program in order to generate enough donations for their organizations. This strategy can be incredibly profitable for larger charities with millions of supporters shopping on Amazon – however, it requires significant upfront investments that must be promoted successfully in order to be effective.

AmazonSmile makes giving back easy! Over one million 501(c)(3) public charitable organizations participate, so chances are good that your favorite nonprofit may already be registered as part of AmazonSmile. However, to be sure, it’s best practice to contact them directly to verify if their listing exists with AmazonSmile before proceeding with shopping!

Set up AmazonSmile on your iPhone’s Amazon app by opening and tapping the “Settings” icon on your screen’s bottom. Select The Global Orphan Project as the charity to donate funds, as this app is free and compatible with iOS and Android devices.

Signing up

If you own an iPhone and want to support your favorite charity through Amazon Smile, the official app makes it easier than ever! Amazon will donate 0.5% of every purchase price made through this program directly to the organization of your choice – simply remembering to use the app each time can ensure donations go toward supporting nonprofits such as The Global Orphan Project! You can change your selection at any time and even change its selection at will if need be!

Before, Amazon Smile could only be used through computer or smartphone browsers; its support in the Amazon app had yet to come. Now, supporting charitable causes through Amazon Smile will be much simpler for individuals.

To begin, you must download and use the latest version of the Amazon app. Select your charity of choice from those available on the list, and the app will automatically remember and apply your donation towards purchases eligible for subsidies. However, renew it every six months; otherwise, your contributions will lapse, and no one can benefit.

Once you’ve selected your charity, shopping on Amazon Smile can begin. Your selection will appear prominently at the top of each screen, and once every six months, the app will prompt you to choose another charity.

Amazon will donate 0.5% of each purchase price, plus give customers additional chances to increase donations – such as when purchasing an Amazon Prime subscription and earning an extra 0.5% donation! It’s an effective way of growing contributions!

You can also find additional program details on Amazon Smile’s website. It features a search bar with recommendations of charities and a bar at the bottom that allows you to enter your organization name. Please be aware that donations through Amazon Smile are only possible if your organization has registered with the IRS – otherwise, please reach out directly for registration with them.

Selecting a charity

On your initial visit to Amazon Smile, you will be asked to select a charity. After doing so, Amazon Smile will remember your selection for all future eligible purchases – although you can alter this anytime! You may also change it at any point.

The AmazonSmile donation program returns 0.5% of eligible product purchase prices to charity, including rebates, shipping and handling fees, gift-wrapping fees, taxes, and service charges (excluding subscription renewals/subscribe and save purchases). To check whether an eligible product qualifies, look for its “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” label on its product detail page.

Nonprofits have found this passive revenue stream invaluable, even though its donations may initially seem small. With millions of users and contributions increasing over time, it has become one of the largest sources of gifts. Unfortunately, donors cannot donate to more than one charity simultaneously and can only change their selection once per month, posing issues for organizations that support multiple causes.

To use the Amazon Smile Apple App, you must be signed in to your Amazon account and possess an iPhone. After doing this, you can shop using Amazon Smile through Apple’s app and set it as your default shopping app in Settings if desired.

AmazonSmile on the Apple app makes donations simple, and all donations are made by Amazon directly. Though donations may be restricted during special promotions or events, download is free, and they make all donations directly.

Your nonprofit must promote this feature on social media and other platforms for maximum effect; more people who utilize the service increase your odds of attracting new donors, while supporters may be more inclined to shop on Amazon if they know their purchases can generate donations for your cause.

Making a purchase

Customers donate a small percentage of each purchase price to a charity of choice without adding to their balance or counting toward subscription services. Customers can change their selection at any time, and the website also features a search function to locate their cause of choice quickly.

Amazon Smile was initially an independent website but became part of Amazon’s infrastructure in 2013. The program aimed to bridge shoppers and nonprofits by enabling customers to donate while shopping on Amazon Smile, raising over $2 billion for more than one million registered nonprofits and charities without incurring extra costs for themselves – the Amazon Foundation collects this money.

Amazon Smile has become even simpler since its incorporation into the main Amazon app. Users can select their preferred charity in Settings, and each eligible purchase will generate a donation to it – this new feature is free for users and won’t affect existing experience or current account details.

Before purchasing Amazon Smile, there are a few essential considerations. First and foremost is making sure you are shopping in the correct app; it can be easy to lose track if multiple apps are open on your phone! Furthermore, only your purchase price qualifies for donation; rebates, shipping charges, gift wrapping fees, or taxes do not factor into it; returned purchases or subscription orders do not count towards this donation.

Renew your selection every six months to keep donations flowing and prevent them from being transferred to another registered charity. If you fail to renew, any accrued donations may be lost forever!

Many find it challenging to justify giving even a tiny portion of each purchase directly to charity; even though 50 cents on a $100 tablet might seem inconsequential, small donations add up quickly! Small contributions such as this help sustain more enormous charitable efforts while assisting directly. But these small gifts should never replace generous giving now to favorite organizations.
