Who Is Lois Griffin?
1. I’m a dad
Many may argue there is no difference between father and dad, but this is not the case. Each individual determines their view on these terms depending on how they view themselves within their family and surroundings.
Some may associate “dad” with negative connotations, while for others, it can be used to refer to someone who cares deeply for their children and will do what’s best for them regardless of any obstacles in their way. Either way, being a father can have positive connotations; both aspects play an integral part in being one.
Dads play an integral role in providing for their children so that they don’t grow up poor; thus, working is one of the primary aspects of fatherhood.
2. I’m a husband
Lois Griffin has shown some darker sides of her personality over time. She often exhibits non-caring tendencies and can often come off as snobbish. Furthermore, Lois was previously caught cheating on her husband with President Bill Clinton and Gene Simmons from the KISS band.
She is known to possess a bit of sexy flair, often seen wearing costumes and hairstyles inspired by Princess Leia from Star Wars, as well as being interested in Sadomasochism.
Early adverse experiences with wealth and snobbery likely played a part in her later rejection of that lifestyle. She is known to be somewhat promiscuous, having slept with both Carter (Peter’s father) and Governor of Arkansas as partners.
3. I’m a teacher
Family Guy fans know that Lois has an equally crazy younger sister named Carol Pewterschmidt, who was named one of Maxim’s sexiest women for 2012.
Lois has earned herself a reputation as a romantic housewife, yet her past includes hanging around with an unsavory crowd and engaging in rebellious activities. Furthermore, Lois may have caused injuries through violent moves learned in martial arts class.
Alex Borstein voiced Lois Patrice Griffin. Her accent is based on that of her cousin. To match the fast-paced timing of the show, her talking speed is also increased dramatically – something which may sometimes be uncomfortable to watch but is essential for the comedic delivery of the series.
4. I’m a writer
Stories are everywhere – in people we meet on the street, birds in the sky, and even raccoons digging through our garbage cans. When you hear a tale for the first time, it becomes like an audible whisper that sinks deep into your consciousness – as if a hunger was created that only words could satisfy. That is how writers know they belong among us.
Lois Patrice Griffin, voiced by Alex Borstein, is one of the main characters on Family Guy; being married to Peter and mother to Stewie and Brian. As the voice of reason in Seth MacFarlane’s animated household, Lois serves as its foundation while harboring some secrets and making questionable life decisions herself.
5. I’m a musician
Lois may be known for being the voice of reason on Family Guy, but she’s also an accomplished singer/songwriter with her original music. She even briefly joined a band under her name!
She has collaborated with Tom Guernsey of Reekers/Hangmen on writing songs of her own, their most recent release being 2008’s Songs From the Land of Plenty album.
Most people know Lois is straight, yet she has shown hints of being bisexual. For instance, in “Bill and Peter’s Bogus Journey,” Lois kissed one of her lesbian friends while also kissing former President Johnson during The Cleveland Show pilot episode. Additionally, Lois has had multiple romantic relationships with men. Lois is a highly talented musician with genuine star potential who might one day realize this potential.
7. I’m a musician
Lois Patrice Griffin (nee Pewterschmidt) is one of the main characters on Family Guy, portraying an accomplished singer/guitarist/multi-instrumentalist with a natural country sound and a real talent for singing – unlike autotuning artists or manufactured singers who imitate natural talent with auto-tune or manufactured artists like her counterparts in modern society.
She has played with the Go Team, hosted a girls-only radio show, been part of Cradle Robbers (future Spinane Rebecca Gates was one of her bandmates), and even been called Courtney Love by onetime Portland roommates. Her music is simple yet lovely, featuring an acoustic guitar and her distinctive near-lisp vocal style; two albums of her music are released 1992 Butterfly Kiss and 1993 Strumpet, respectively, but she regularly performs regionally with various bands.
8. I’m a writer
Lois is an author known for her articles for the Quahog Gazette as well as books she has written. Her signature style features her New England accent and irreverent sense of humor.
Lois has often been speculated to be bisexual. She can often be seen kissing female friends and has expressed that women can be teased. Furthermore, Lois has even been seen with lesbian lovers in several episodes.
Recent episodes have shown us that Lois’ mother survived the Holocaust. However, Lois does not take her Jewish roots seriously and even dresses up as Easter Bunny at one point! These facts make great conversation starters among family and friends who watch this series.
10. I’m a musician
Lois Griffin is a beloved character in the animated show Family Guy, but she doesn’t conform to expectations as an ideal housewife. Instead, she exhibits some dark traits and makes poor life decisions that have had detrimental consequences on both herself and those around her.
She was a prominent presence in Olympia, Washington (where she was known as “The Lois”), singing on Go Team songs with Calvin Johnson and hosting a girl-punk radio show at KAOS-FM; later joining Rebecca Gates of Spinane as part of Cradle Robbers for short stints before going solo again with Butterfly Kiss and its follow up Strumpet albums.
She’s currently hard at work on her next project, which should be released soon. Her fanbase loves and appreciates her genuine music style; in a world filled with autotuning and manufactured artists, she stands out as accurate. Check her out if you get the chance!
